As of July 20, 2017, Orange County's Courtyard Transitional Center has graduated 112 individuals into housing since it opened in October 2016.
The Courtyard, Orange County's first homeless shelter, is on track for meeting its goal of graduating 10 individuals per month from the shelter into housing programs. The recent report also shows that 60 individuals living at the Courtyard are currently employed full-time.
“The Courtyard is a success,” said Supervisor Andrew Do. “We are on our way to accomplishing our goals of helping our homeless individuals get back on their feet."
The Courtyard houses over 400 individuals each night and serves over 1,000 meals a day.
The success of the Courtyard comes with another initiative introduced by Supervisor Andrew Do. Supervisor Do, along with Supervisor Spitzer, proposed a pilot program to transition the homeless living on the Santa Ana riverbed into permanent housing.
"Orange County continues to keep up the momentum in the fight to end homelessness," said Supervisor Andrew Do. "I will continue to work to address homelessness in our County and provide those critical links to housing and wraparound services."
